When Plans Become Blessings" - Journal by Andrew Brownback

Â
This was my second trip to Cambodia with Giving It Back to Kids. 2 years ago, we shared a vision of creating a Home for boys who were at Risk and living on the street. Words cannot describe how grateful I am that dream has become a reality.
Two years ago, my Church and I had a vision: could we help the boys here?
That vision has now borne fruit — we are currently supporting 12 boys in great need
This past March I brought my 11 year old and together we saw first hand the impact New Hope Home is having.Â
My son and I had a meaningful time during our recent trip to Cambodia
We interviewed boys who had been living on the street, some suffering abuse others, barely making it every day- Who now have a home, food, education- And MOST importantly, they are loved and valued. Getting a chance to see the staff interact with the boys was a gift I won’t forget.
Hearing each child's story deeply touched me
The home mother’s and team love each boy, care for each boy, and make them feel like they are the most valuable child in the world (which they of course are).
The emotions it left in me were truly powerful and moving
Probably my favorite moment was seeing the boys share about their future. Many have dreams of opening up homes like New Hope to provide help and a better tomorrow for others in similar situations.
I was surrounded by hugs from the boys
It is a Blessing to be be part of what God is doing in Cambodia, and I wanted to say thank you to Giving it back to Kids- The team is incredible and I’m thankful to be part of a Church that gets to partner with people making such a difference.
Just to let you know, in June 2023, Giving It Back to Kids, in partnership with The Crossing Church, opened a safe home in Cambodia called New Hope Home. This home is transforming lives through education, nutrition, medical care, love, and a stable environment for boys as they grow into young men.
More than just meeting their basic needs, New Hope Home brings healing to their hearts — helping them overcome past pain through love and emotional support. This creates a strong sense of brotherhood where they feel safe, grow, and begin to see their true worth, guided by caring home mothers and inspiring leaders. They leave this home empowered, ready to step into the world, no longer held back by their past.
Currently, 12 boys are being supported and cared for at New Hope Home.
